 Hillsboro/Las Cruces Trifecta Omnium Race Results | posted by Angel on 20 Mar : 20:55 | | | The first full weekend of racing down in Las Cruces/Hillsboro was a great success for Team Olev Rapido/The Kickstand. Warm, sunny weather (albeit a bit windy – springtime in New Mexico) greeted all racers as they tackled the challenging Trifecta Omnium. Olev Rapido/The Kickstand was well represented in numerous categories.
Saturday’s first event, the 12-mile Time Trial, was run in out-and-back fashion with an alternating head/tailwind. Later in the afternoon, the 1-mile loop criterium got underway. By Sunday’s Road Race of either 35 or 57 miles, both ending on the climb to Kingston, the Omnium point standings were starting to shape up.
               
Congratulations to Mindy Caruso, who won the Women’s Category 1/2/3 Omnium (with 1st in the Time Trial and Road Race, 3rd in the Crit.). Larry Coons and Randy Bradford placed 6th and 7th respectively in the Master’s Omnium (Larry finished 7th in the Time Trial, 3rd in the Crit, and 9th in the Road Race: Randy finished 2nd in the Road Race). Sandy Knudsen earned 2nd place in the Women’s Cat 4 Omnium (with 3rd in the Time Trial, 4th in the Crit and 3rd in the Road Race) and Michael Pedersen came in 7th in the Men’s Cat 5 Omnium (10th in the Crit). Dale Maxwell also placed 8th in the Men’s Cat 5 Time Trial.
Additional congratulations go out to Zia Velo for their professional and courteous promotion of the event. Without their efforts, there would be no races.
